Nice, warm bed for cats that want to be cozy Jan 17, 2010
This is the second Thermo-Kitty bed I've gotten, and I like it. More importantly, so does my cat. She's a "scaredy cat" so we figured that we could get her this one and she could hide in it, and sometimes she does. Usually, however she prefers to be somewhere up high, so maybe we just need to find a better place to put it. However, the cord isn't that long, so that may be a problem (it's probably a foot and a half long or so). It's a good quality bed that's the perfect cat-temperature. You can fold it down in different ways, but I can't imagine why a cat would like it that way. However, the foam is sturdy enough to stay in a cabin shape without any support. It's also roomy enough that my 9 1/2 pound DLH fits in very comfortably with room to spare. I'd buy a Thermo-Kitty bed again, but maybe not this shape.... but it depends completely on your cat's personality and what they'd prefer. The bed itself is great!
kitty cottage Jan 12, 2009
Have two cats, the small (7lbs), shorthair who suffers when it is cold loves it. Sticks her head out and tries to coax us into letting her "eat in bed". The larger cat (14lbs) with a great heavy coat checked it out and hasn't been in since. Ergo small kitty has two houses.
Ok But Not Her First Choice Jan 22, 2008
My cat uses this kitty condo occasionally. She prefers her open air heated mat to the enclosed condo for reasons known only to herself. She wouldn't even look at the condo at first, in fact we had to force her in and feed her treats to get her to stay in it long enough for it to warm up. After that she voluntarily went in but it's definitely not her favorite warm spot.
I haven't tried any of the other configurations yet. When you change the shape I think you have to move the heated pad or else the pad is insulated by too much foam to be effective. Overall though - the quality of the materials was good and the heated pad takes up about 1/2 to 3/4 of the condo floor area. It's pricey so, when selecting your cats heated furniture take into account if they like to be enclosed or not. My cat doesn't and I think the condo reminds her of the carrier which we use to take her to the vet.
